Northern Illinois Urban and Community Fishing Program Schedule

We are excited to announce that FREE fishing clinics have been scheduled for our Northern Illinois counties for June of 2025. Summer clinics for July and August will be posted soon! These clinics are designed to get children and families "hooked on fishing" by teaching basic fishing skills and ethical angling practices, along with tips and tricks for catching common fish in your area.

These clinics will be offered in IDNR Regions 1 and 2, north of I-80. These regions includes cities surrounding Chicago, Rockford, Moline, Naperville and McHenry. These are drop-in clinics that require no registration and all are FREE of charge.

Are you interested in learning more about programs in other areas of the state? Please see our Urban and Community Fishing page.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have groups of 10 or more participants, please consider a registered, group program, as the clinics below are "drop in" and designed for individuals and families vs. large gatherings.

For more information about scheduling group fishing programs, please contact the Northern Illinois Urban and Community Fishing Program Coordinator Frank Sladek at Frank.Sladek@Illinois.gov.
