Poor | The bluegill population is stunted and poor. No bluegill over 8 inches were collected in the 2022 spring survey. Only two bluegill over 7 inches were collected. | |
Very Good | This lake has a very good common carp population. Carp over 10 pounds are present. | |
Average | The channel catfish population is average. Ten channel catfish (16-25 inches) were collected in the 2022 spring survey. One thousand (7 inch) channel catfish were stocked in September 2022. | |
Fair | The crappie population is stunted but a few larger fish are present. Sixteen percent of the crappie collected in the 2022 spring survey were over 9 inches, and 11% were over ten inches. Both black and white crappie are present in the lake. Anglers are encouraged to harvest all crappie caught regardless of size to help thin out the population. | |
Average | The largemouth bass population in this lake is average. During the 2022 spring electrofishing sample, largemouth bass were collected at a rate of 50 fish per hour. The ten-year average is 55 fish/hour. Of the 25 bass collected, 60% were over 15 inches, 52% were over 16 inches, and 20% were over 18 inches. Although anglers will typically not catch large numbers of bass in this lake, there are a few bigger bass present. The largest bass collected in the 2022 survey weighed 6.3 pounds. Location: Carbondale City Reservoir is located in Jackson County on the south side of Carbondale at Evergreen Park.
Description: Facilities at this 135-acre lake include a very shallow boat launch (no gas motors allowed) and bathroom. This lake is adjacent to Evergreen Park, which has playground, restroom, and picnic areas.
Additional Lake Information: No gas motors are allowed on Carbondale City Reservoir. Two pole and line fishing only. Bow fishing is not allowed at this site.
