Very Good | Bluegill numbers are down in this survey, however he size distribution of the bluegill collected was very good. Site regulations: 25 fish daily limit.
Good | Channel catfish were collected in the 2017 survey. They ranged from 10-29 inches and were in good condition. Site regulations: 6 fish daily limit.
Good | It appears reproduction and recruitment of bass has been very strong in the last few years. The bass population is dominated by smaller sized fish. The condition of the bass collected was poor. The largemouth bass population appears overcrowded with slow growth. Harvest pressure may also be reducing the larger bass.
Very Good | Redear sunfish numbers were lower, however the size quality of the fish collected was good and their condition was good. Site regulations: 25 fish daily limit.
History and Status of the Sport Fishery: The 2017 fish population survey shows no dramatic changes in the largemouth population, which is dominated by high numbers of smaller fish. The high bass numbers are resulting in quality bluegill and redear sunfish populations. The numbers of bluegill and redear sunfish have both decreased from previous surveys. The size quality of the bluegill and redear sunfish is very good. Channel catfish provide an additional angling opportunity. This lake has had problems with excessive aquatic plant growth in recent years and some improved management plans for this problem may benefit the fishery in coming years. This lake also has some interesting “bonus” fish. Large flathead catfish and common carp have been collected in recent surveys. Current conditions should provide good fishing opportunities for smaller largemouth bass, quality bluegill/redear sunfish, trophy common carp, and perhaps a large flathead catfish. Surveys will continue every other year.
