Excellent | The Bluegill population contains good numbers of fish up to 9 inches. The Silt Basin has very clear water that can make for some very tough fishing in the summer time. Ice fishing has been the most popular way to target these large fish. | |
Average | The Largemouth bass population is dominated by 12- 14 inch fish. These fish have average weights and are in good overall health. Small bass are the key to the large Bluegill. Note that this is a catch-and-release-only fishery in this lake. | |
Location: Lake Carlton Silt basin is located in Whiteside County just north of Morrison off Route 78 within Morrison-Rookwood State Park.
Description: Carlton Silt Basin was built in 1969 and was a rearing pond for Lake Carlton until 1994. The lake is 7.5 acres and has lots fallen timber habitat. The silt basin has a maximum depth of 11 feet. It is being managed as a trophy Bluegill fishery.

Large or Smallmouth Bass: Catch-and-release only
Bluegill or Redear Sunfish: 10 fish daily limit; 8” minimum length limit
