BLUEGILL

Good

The bluegill population structure is above average. During the 2019 fall survey, 34% of the bluegill collected were over 7 inches. Site Regulation: 25/day limit

CHANNEL CATFISH

Poor

No channel catfish have been collected during IDNR surveys at this lake. Site Regulation: 6/day limit.

CRAPPIE

Excellent

DuQuoin City Lake has an excellent crappie population consisting of both black and white crappie. Of the 36 crappie collected in the 2019 fall survey, 61% were over 9 inches in length and 8% were over 10 inches. Site Regulation: 25/day limit.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Good

During the 2019 fall electrofishing survey, 22% of the largemouth bass collected measured over 15 inches 9% were over 18 inches. 22% of the bass collected were in the 14-18 inch protected slot limit. Feeding on the overabundant gizzard shad population may allow some of these protected bass to reach and exceed the 18 inch limit in the next few years. Site Regulation: 5 fish under 14" and 1 fish over 18" daily creel; 14-18" protected slot.

REDEAR SUNFISH

Excellent

The redear population is excellent. Of the redear collected in the 2019 fall survey, 53% were over 9 inches in length and 24% were over 10 inches. The largest redear was over 11 inches and weighed over 1 pound. Site Regulation: 25/day limit.

Location: DuQuoin City Lake is located in Perry County north of DuQuoin. From center of town take State Route 51 North for approximately 4 miles and turn east onto City Lake Road.

Description: This 210-acre lake has a shoreline length of 12 miles and a maximum depth of 30 feet. There is a single lane boat ramp. There are no docks, restrooms or concessions available and parking in the gravel lot is limited. Much of the shoreline is surrounded by spatterdock (yellow cow lily) which provides excellent fish habitat.

History and Status of the Sport Fishery: A fall electrofishing survey is conducted annually at this lake. All fishery information is based off these surveys.
