BLUEGILL

Poor

The bluegill population is stunted and poor. No bluegill over 7 inches were collected in the 2019 spring survey. Only one bluegill over 7 inches was collected.

CARP

Very Good

This lake has a very good common carp population. Carp over 10 pounds are present.

CHANNEL CATFISH

Average

The channel catfish population is average at best. No channel catfish were collected in the 2019 spring survey, however channel catfish have been collected during 7 of the last 10 surveys.

CRAPPIE

Fair

The crappie population is stunted but a few larger fish are present. Of the 36 crappie collected in the 2019 spring survey, 10 were over 9 inches and 7 were over ten inches. Both black and white crappie are present in the lake. Anglers are encouraged to harvest all crappie caught regardless of size to help thin out the population and increase the average size.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Average

The largemouth bass population in this lake is average. During the 2019 spring electrofishing sample, largemouth bass were collected at a rate of 82 fish per hour. The ten-year average is 52 fish/hour. Of the 41 bass collected, 27% were over 15 inches, 20% were over 16 inches, and 10% were over 18 inches. Although anglers will typically not catch large numbers of bass in this lake,there are a few bigger bass present. The largest bass collected in the 2019 survey measured 20 inches and weighed just over 5 pounds. Site Regulations: Largemouth bass: 15" minimum length limit; 3 fish daily limit.

REDEAR SUNFISH

Poor

No redear sunfish were collected in the 2019 spring survey. Redear sunfish have only been collected in 1 of the last 6 surveys.

Location: Carbondale City Reservoir is located in Jackson County on the south side of Carbondale at Evergreen Park.

Description: Facilities at this 135-acre lake include a very shallow boat launch and bathroom. This lake is adjacent to Evergreen Park, which has playground and picnic areas.

Additional Lake Information: No gas motors are allowed on Carbondale City Reservoir. Two pole and line fishing only. Bow fishing is not allowed at this site.
