Fish Status

BLUEGILL

Average

The bluegill population was sampled by 98 fish in the fall electrofishing survey. The current bluegill population is rated as average with fish sampled up to 8 inches in length. This population is of high density and in good body condition with a Wr average of 89.

CRAPPIE

Average

In 2019, the white and black crappie populations were sampled by 1 and 15 fish in the fall electrofishing survey. The size ranged from 6.7 to 9.8 inches in length and the body condition was average from 84 to 87 Wr. No harvest or length limit is necessary at this time for the crappie population. The harvest of the numerous black crappie should be encouraged to lower their density. This population is showing a slowing growth rate.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Average

In 2019, a fall D.C. electrofishing survey was used to evaluate the fish population. The largemouth bass population was evaluated by 67 bass from electrofishing. The largemouth bass population appears to be defined by a high percentage of fish from 3.5 to 16 inches in length. The average Relative weight was just okay at a value of 86. The bass population appears to have a high density and rapid recovery from the winter kill of 2013/2014. The percent of bass over 16 inches was 15% in 2015, 9% in 2016, 14% in 2017, 10% in 2018, but 0 in 2019.
