BLUEGILL

Average

The bluegill population was sampled by 48 fish in fall electrofishing survey. The current bluegill population is rated as average with a few fish sampled up to 7.5 inches in length. This population is of high density and in average body condition with a Wr average of 90.

CRAPPIE

Average

In 2019, the black crappie population was sampled by 3 fish and no white crappie in the fall electrofishing survey. These black crappie were from 9.4 to 12.6 inches in length and the body condition was average at a Wr of 87.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Good

In 2019, a fall D.C. electrofishing survey was used to evaluate the fish population. The largemouth bass population was evaluated by 287 bass from electrofishing. The largemouth bass population appears to be defined by a high percentage of fish from 3.5 to 13 inches in length with average Relative weights. And then a small group of bass from 15 to 20 inches in very good body condition. The submerged vegetation control in 2017 thru 2019 allowed for an effective and accurate survey in the fall of 2017 thru 2019. The percent of bass over 16 inches was 32% in 2015, 0% in 2016, 9% in 2017, 9% in 2018, and 5% in 2019.

Location: Blandinsville South Pond is located at the north west edge of the village of Blandinsville by the water treatment plant.

Description: Blandinsville South Pond is a perched water supply reservoir for the village of Blandinsville. It has complete shoreline fishing access and very little submerged aquatic vegetation.

History and Status of the Sport Fishery: Blandinsville South Pond has a balanced sport fishery of bluegill, largemouth bass, black crappie and channel catfish.

Additional Lake Information: All Fish - 2 pole and line fishing only.
Large or Smallmouth Bass:
- Protected Slot Length Limit with 1 fish greater than or equal to 15 inches and/or 2 fish less than 12 inches daily.
Bluegill or Redear Sunfish:
- 6 Fish Daily Harvest Limit
