Excellent | Bluegill are abundant and range in size from 1.75” to 7.75” and topped the scale at .36 pounds. 31% topped 6” and 14.6% reached 7” in size. | |
Good | 4 Catfish were seen during this 2014 spring survey. These Cats measured from 17.5” to 28”, and weighed up to 8.7 lbs. | |
Excellent | Greenfield City Lake has a great largemouth bass fishery! In 2014 spring sampling, fish ranged from 2.25” to 21”, and weighed up to 4.5 lbs. 10% topped 15”, 4% reached 18”, and 2.7% exceeded 20” in total length. | |
Very Good | During the population sample, redear ranged from 4” to 10” in length, and weighed up to .56 lbs. 47% were at least 6”, 21% reached 8”, and 5% topped 10” in length. | |
Location: Greenfield City Lake is located in southeastern Greene County, one half mile east of Greenfield, Illinois.
Description: Patriot's Park Lake is under cooperative management between The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and the City of Greenfield and has a maximum depth 21 feet. Greenfield City Lake has a trolling motor only motor size limit. There is one gravel ramp on the northwest end of the water body. Bait and tackle can be acquired in Greenfield. Camping, and picnicking are available on site.
History and Status of the Sport Fishery: Approximately 10 fish groups have been captured in this lake. These species are as follows – Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Black Crappie, Channel Catfish, White Crappie, Redear Sunfish, Green Sunfish, Golden Shiner, Common Carp, and Hybrid Sunfish.
Additional Lake Information: All Fish are 2 pole and line fishing only. Greenfield City Lake has a trolling motor only motor size limit. There is one gravel ramp on the northwest end of the water body. Bait and tackle can be acquired in Greenfield. Camping, and picnicking are available on site.
