BLUEGILL

Good

The bluegill population is good. There are plenty of 7 inch bluegill with a few over eight inches also present.

CHANNEL CATFISH

Good

Although not collected in the 2016 survey, channel catfish are stocked annually and have been collected in previous surveys. Site Regulation: 6 fish daily limit.

CRAPPIE

Average

This lake has an average crappie population consisting of both black and white crappie. Of the 11 crappie collected in the 2016 survey, 5 were over nine inches.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Excellent

This lake has an excellent bass population. Of the bass collected during the 2016 fall electrofishing sample, 27% were over 15 inches, 21% were over 16 inches, and 17% were over 18 inches. Site Regulation: 6 fish daily limit, 15" minimum length limit.

REDEAR SUNFISH

Excellent

The redear sunfish population is excellent. In the 2016 fisheries survey, redear sunfish were collected up to 10 inches in length.

Location: Sparta New City Reservoir (North) is located in Randolph County. From Sparta head north on SR 4 for 0.4 miles, turn east on Mounds Street. The lake is located north of Mounds Street about 0.8 miles east of Sparta.

Description: Sparta New City Reservoir (North) is 27 acres in size. There is a single lane boat ramp. There are no concessions available.

Additional Lake Information: All fish 2 pole and line fishing only.

Largemouth bass: 6 fish daily limit, 15" minimum length limit
Channel catfish: 6 fish daily limit
