Fishing Report for Mattoon, Lake

FISHING REPORT PROVIDED BY:  Reported by Joel Pittman of Mattoon Parks Dept. Check out the lake soon! "A Fisherman is always hopeful - so many fish, so little time."

WATER CONDITIONS:  Lake levels have dropped and down about two feet from normal pool! Best fishing success is during early morning or later evening hours.

CRAPPIE

Spotty: A few fish moving up during the cooler weather temperatures. Look for them around and under the docks with minnows and jigs.

CHANNEL CATFISH

Good: Anglers using night crawlers, shad, shrimp, and cheese bait along the shorelines. A recent tournament reported good results with a 31.2 pound stringer weighed in to win and the big fish tipping the scales at 9.2 pounds.

LARGEMOUTH BASS

Fair: Recent tournaments reported anglers using Blue fleck worms, and P.B. & J colored crankbaits. Some nice sized and some smaller sized fish.
