Fishing Report for Charleston Side Channel

FISHING REPORT PROVIDED BY:  Reported by John Cook at Cooks Bait Shop on the east edge of Charleston. Stop by soon for fresh homemade cheese bait!

WATER CONDITIONS:  Lake levels are fairly normal for this time of year and good for fishing. The river levels are low with no current, but near normal for this time of year. A few Striped Bass have been caught near the rip rap, weed beds, and aeration area with chicken livers. Lots of water activity recently.

CRAPPIE

Fair: Look for them deep from a boat or walk the levy near the weed beds with a minnow on your hook. Mill Creek is producing on minnows in approximately 7 feet of water.

BLUEGILL

Fair to Good: Cast a cricket or wax worm near the weed patches and near docks.

CHANNEL CATFISH

Fair to Good: Fish are biting on cheese bait and night crawlers near the weed beds and a few on chicken livers in the lake and along the river shoreline. Flathead Catfish are being caught on live good sized Bluegill bait from deeper holes.
