FISHING AREA: Ohio River - Golconda Marina-Smithland Pool Area
WATER CONDITIONS: River levels at Smithland Pool are a little below pool at 29.79 feet, but should go up to 30.3 feet and return to 29.9 feet on Monday; normal pool is 29.9 feet. surface water temperatures are 60 degrees in the river and 58-59 degrees in the creeks. Angling activity is fairly slow. Beautiful autumn colors are emerging all across the country side in southern Illinois.
FISH: Crappie ... Fair to Good; Creeks are good, especially Big Grande Pierre and Big Creeks; Fish are moving up into 4 to 6 feet of water, lower a jig and minnow near brush or cover. Lots of angling activity!
FISH: Bluegill ... Fair to Good; Offer wax worms, pieces of night crawlers, or crickets under a bobber near shallower cover.
FISH: Catfish ... Fair; Anglers are taking a few fish from the main channel.
FISH: Largemouth Bass ... Fair; Anglers using plastic's, spinner baits, and crankbaits near cover; creeks best; tournaments have concluded for this season.
FISH: Catfish ... Fair; A few continue to hit on worms in the main river channel near ledges and drop offs.
NOTE: Archery deer season has lots of activity in this area.

WATER CONDITIONS: The river levels are up due to more rainfall received again this week. Shawneetown levels are at 17.45 feet and Metropolis at feet and 22.7 feet at Brookport. Fluctuating water levels have slowed fishing activity. Surface water temperatures are from 58 to 60 degrees.
FISH: Crappie ... Fair to Good; A few fish are being taken from shallower timber and brush with minnows; weather conditions have reduced fishing activities.
FISH: Bluegill ... Fair to Good; Crickets are popular near structure and weed lines this week.
FISH: Catfish ... Good; Night crawlers are producing in the main river channel near drop offs, ledges, and structures.

WATER CONDITIONS: The river is up and stands at 31.3 feet at Grand Chain. 42 feet is flood stage.
