FISHING AREA: Lake Mingo in Vermillion County has 170 acres with a maximum depth of 38 acres and 5.0 miles of shoreline. A 10 horsepower limit has been placed on boat motors. The lake offers fishing, swimming, skiing, and picnicking. They also have boats to rent.
WATER CONDITIONS: Water levels are stable and good for fishing.
FISH: Crappie ... Fair; Most fish have gone deeper near brush and cover; look for them in 7 to 8 feet of water. Increased fishing activity.
FISH: Bass ... Good; Small sized fish are the normal, but a few 5 1/2 and 6 pounders have come out; fish are being reeled in from 15 feet depths and are pretty active; The lake is a good bass lake that is loaded with timber; a tournament is held weekly on Tuesday nights.
FISH: Catfish ... Fair to Good; Anglers can most generally always catch some. Offer the usual baits; stink bait, shrimp, leeches, and chicken livers.
NOTE: Bluegill are limited to five fish longer than 7 inches and an unlimited number shorter than 7 inches.
