WATER ..... Dawson Lake




FISHING REPORT DATE: 05/04/2012 FISHING AREA:. Dawson Lake is 158 acres with a maximum depth of 28 feet and 5.4 miles of shoreline in McLean County, North of I74 near Leroy, IL.

WATER CONDITIONS: The water levels are pretty good for fishing; Anglers are catching fish! Don't miss out!

FISH: Crappie ... Good; Anglers are catching fish with minnows in shallow water near the boat docks and the dam.

FISH: Bluegill ... Good; Many anglers successful with chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, or buzz baits near weed lines in fairly shallow water.

FISH: Bass ... Good; Look for them in the channel with buzz baits, rattle traps, topwater baits and spinners in fairly shallow levels near cover. Several boats fished in the recent tournament.

FISH: Walleye ... Good; Jigs are producing some fish at the dam in deeper water.

FISH: Channel Catfish ... Good; Anglers catching fish with night crawlers, minnows, and wax worms at the north end of the lake; in fairly close just out from the shorelines.

Bow Fishing .. is allowed for carp from a boat on Dawson Lake, but not within 100 feet of any developed recreation areas.

NOTES: Nice quality saugeye/walleye from 15 to 17 inches have been collected during survey samplings.
