FISHING REPORT DATE: 08-08-08

FISHING AREA: Fishing is outstanding at the 4,900 acre lake. It is the ideal place to drop your line and catch fish. Favorite fishing spots are in the upper arms of the lake, the bridges and the spillway. Boaters can fish the old creek channels or submerged flats for great action. There are six public boat ramps and one canoe launch. There is also a special pier at the Mascoutin access area for the disabled. A variety of boats are available for rent at the Dockside Marina which also has a full-service bait and tackle shop. Clinton Lake also has a beautiful, 1,000 white sand beach for swimmers. Enjoy the great outdoors at the lake - go picnicking, hiking, camping, water skiing, hunting for upland game, horseback riding, boating and fishing. WATER CONDITIONS: Water levels are at 691.0 feet; water temperatures are at 86 degrees; Lots of fishing activity.

FISH: Crappie ... Spotty; Anglers are finding them in 8 to 10 feet of water with minnows and jigs.

FISH: Largemouth Bass .. Good; Good everywhere on minnows except from Dewitt to the 48 Bridge.

FISH: Channel Catfish .. Good; Anglers shrimp and night crawlers in shallow water during early and later hours.

FISh: White Bass .. Fair; A few fish are being caught near the spillway with spinners and minnows.

FISH: Stripers ... Fair; A few are being taken with minnows from the west side of the lake.

FISH: Walleye .. Fair; A few are being caught on the west side in the spillway area with minnows and night crawlers.

FISH: Crappie ... Fair to Good; Quite a few are being caught; look near the bridges, back of coves and round cover with minnows and jigs.

FISH: Bass .. Good; Catching fish on the west side along the banks and in the coves with soft baits and spinners.

FISH: Channel Catfish .. Good; Anglers successful all over! Nice sized fish are being biting aggressively on shad, minnows, and night crawlers in shallow water; 10 pounders not unusual; nice big ones! Fishermen are fishing for crappie and catching a catfish.

FISh: White Bass .. Good; Use spinners and minows at the spillway and the north fork area.

FISH: Stripers ... Good; Fish are biting on the west side and near TP point trolling minnows.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; The west side and near the spillway is the best spot this week with minnows and chubber spoons.

FISH: Flathead Catfish; Big ones are coming out of the spillway area; 30 and 40 pounders everyday.

FISH: Channel Catfish .. Good; Nice sized fish are being caught with shad, shrimp, nd night crawlers in 6 to 8 feet of water.

FISh: White Bass .. Slow; Look for them at the spillway with minnows and jigs.

FISH: Stripers ... Good; Fish are biting on the west side and near the spillway with large minnows.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; Near the spillway is the best spot using spinners and minnows.

FISH: Flathead Catfish; An angler reported catching a 68.8 pounder this week near the spillway.

FISH: Stripers ... Good; Fish are biting on the west side and near the spillway on large minnows.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; Leeches and night crawlers are producing along the flats and near the spillway.

FISH: Flathead Catfish; Pre spawn conditions; Anglers reported catching fish weighing 47, 32, 24, and 22 pounds this past week.

FISH: Stripers ... Good; Fish continue to be taken near the dam with large minnows.

FISH: Walleye .. Fair; A few are being caught with night crawlers and leeches on the flats and in deep water near gravel beds.

FISH: Bass .. Good; Lots of really nice sized fish are being taken from the west side in the shallows, with crankbaits, soft baits, and minnows.

FISH: Catfish .. Fair to Good; Angling success has slowed, but is still good with cut bait and large minnows.

FISh: White Bass .. Fair; A little slower this week; very few are being caught.

FISH: Stripers ... Good; Good eating sizes of fish are being taken while trolling by the dam with large minnows.

FISH: Walleye .. Fair; A few are being caught with night crawlers and leeches on the flats and in deep water near gravel beds.

FISH: Bass .. Good; Really nice sized fish are being taken from the west side in the shallows, with crankbaits, soft baits, and minnows.

FISH: Catfish .. Great; Anglers are catching fish from the banks with cut bait, large minnows, and night crawlers; fish are 2 1/2 pounds up to 12 pounds.

FISh: White Bass .. Fair; A little slower this week; fish are biting on minnows and spinners.

FISH: Stripers ... Good; Look for them above the dam in deeper water while trolling with large minnows; good eating sizes.

FISH: Walleye .. Fair; A few are being taken with night crawlers with a jig head on it by bouncing the bottom.

FISH: Bass .. Good; Fish are biting in the shallows on crankbaits and soft baits; a few are also being taken with minnows and night crawlers.

FISH: Catfish .. Good; An angler reported catching 6 fish from 2 to 5 pound using shrimp, cut bait, and night cawlers.

FISh: White Bass .. Fair to Good; Best fishing during early and late hours with white and chartreuse twister tails.

FISH: Stripers ... Good; A few are being taken by trolling near the dam with large minnows.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; Smaller sized fish being caught near the spillway and along the flats with minnows and night crawlers.

FISHING AREA: Fishing is outstanding at the 4,900 acre lake. It is the ideal place to drop your line and catch fish. Favorite fishing spots are in the upper arms of the lake, the bridges and the spillway. Boaters can fish the old creek channels or submerged flats for great action. There are six public boat ramps and one canoe launch. There is also a special pier at the Mascoutin access area for the disabled. A variety of boats are available for rent at the Dockside Marina which also has a full-service bait and tackle shop. Clinton Lake also has a beautiful, 1,000 white sand beach for swimmers. Enjoy the great outdoors at the lake - go picnicking, hiking, camping, water skiing, hunting for upland game, horseback riding, boating and fishing. WATER CONDITIONS: Water levels are near normal pool, with temperatures near 70 degrees. The parking lot at the spillway may close again soon due to bridge construction.

FISH: Crappie ... Good; Activity is startin to pick up; look for them in 6 to 7 feet of water near white rock with a minnow and jig.

FISH: Bass .. Good; Lots of fish being caught; Fish on the west side close to the bank and weed edges with jigs and soft baits.

FISH: Catfish .. Excellent; Anglers are successful all over the lake with shad, cut bait and night crawlers.

FISh: White Bass .. Fair to Good; Fish near the bridges with twister tails, minnows, Mephs spinners.

FISH: Stripers ... Good; Toss them a minnow near the spillway.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; Look for them near the spillway and along the flats with minnows and night crawlers.

NOTE: Route 10 is closed for bridge construction. Come to the lake on Route 54.

FISH: Bass .. Good; Lots of fish being caught; the west side against the bank is best; good sizided fish, 12 to 18 inches in size are biting on spinners, crankbaits, and jigs.

FISH: Catfish .. Excellent; Anglers are successful all over; along the shorelines and deep; fish biting on shad and shrimp; a few taken with night crawlers. An angler reported catching 213 with shrimp.

FISh: White Bass .. Fair to Good; Best at the bridges early and late; fishermen are using twister tails, minnows, Mephs spinners.

FISH: Stripers ... Fair to Good; Offer them large minnows on the west side.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; Fishing is strong at the spillway with minnows and night crawlers and on the lake flats by the hot water discharge.

NOTE: Ole Joe Catfish Tournament being held at the lake on May 3rd from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm. All welcome.

WATER CONDITIONS: Water levels are up over normal pool, cleared up and pretty good, with temperatures near 55 degrees. Fishing is picking up! The parking lot at the spillway is closed this week.

FISH: Crappie ... Slower; Smaller sized fish are being taken with a minnow and jig; look for them in 6 to 7 feet of water near the bridges.

FISH: Bass .. Good; The west side is best; fish are biting on spinners, crankbaits, and twister tails; 4 and 5 pound bass have been caught recently.

FISH: Catfish .. Excellent; All anglers are happy! An angler reported fishing for 35 minutes and catching 45 fish from 2 to 10 pounds with night crawlers, cut bait, and minnows.

FISh: White Bass .. Fair; The west side is producing best; large minnows are attracting attention for the anglers.

FISH: Stripers ... Fair to Good; Look for the near the DeWit bridge and the Hwy 48 bridge; anglers are successful with spinners and minnows.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; Lots of small sized fish, limits being caught with night crawlers.

FISH: Bass .. Fair; Small sized fish are being taken from the west side with spinners.

FISH: Catfish .. Excellent; Put Cut bait and night crawlers in the high water at the DeWit bridge.

FISh: Stripers .. Fair; Large minnows are producing on the west side for the anglers.

FISH: White Bass ... Fair; Anglers are successful with white twister tails and spinner baits.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; Night crawlers are attracting attention at the spillway; also put night crawlers on the bottom with a red headed jig.

FISH: Crappie ... Fair; A few limits are being caught;lower a minnow and jig into 6 to 7 feet of water at the bridges.

FISH: Bluegill .. fair to Good; Fish are biting on jig heads and wax worms along the rocks.

FISH: Bass .. Fair; Small sized fish are being taken at Rt.48 and the DeWit Bridge with spinners and minnows. Some action.

FISH: Catfish .. Good; Fish are hitting on cut shad and night crawlers at the bridges and in the hot water discharge area in 6 to 8 feet of water on the bottom.

FISh: White Bass .. Spotty; Spinners and large minnows are producing in the hot water discharge area.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; Anglers are catching limits at the spillway; smaller sized fish are being taken from behind the camp ground, along with some keepers, by using mostly minnows and night crawlers.

FISH: Bluegill .. fair to Good; Fish are biting on jig heads and wax worms along the rocks.

FISH: Bass .. Fair; A few fish are being taken at Rt.48 and the DeWit Bridge with spinners and minnows; an angler reported catching 35 bigger than had size this past week. Lots of fun!

FISH: Catfish .. Good; Hot water side open; Lots of fish being caught with minnows and night crawlers on the bottom. Also look for them in 6 to 8 feet of water with a bobber.

FISh: White Bass .. Fair; Early and late best with spinners, wax worms, and minnows; No west side spillway report this week.

FISH: Walleye .. Good; Near DeWit Bridge and Spillway best with minnows and night crawlers.
