FISHING AREA: Lake Charleston Upper Side Channel is 346 acres with a maximum depth of 185 feet and 5.6 miles of shoreline. Boat fishing with motors is allowed. Lake Charleston is located on the south-east side of Charleston in Coles County off Illinois Route 130.
WATER CONDITIONS: The lake levels are good; the river is up and muddy; surface water temperatures are in the upper 50's this week.
FISH: Crappie ... Good; Lots of small sizes; smaller sized fish are up close in approximately 3 feet of water near brush; larger sizes are generally a little deeper; anglers using mostly minnows.
NOTE: Other area lakes with good crappie action include; Walnut Point, Shelbyville & Mill Creek. Limits of nice sized fish continue to be taken.
NOTE: Lots of interest in Archery deer hunting and duck hunting activities in this area.
