WASHINGTON COUNTY LAKE STATUS REPORT SUMMARY
LARGEMOUTH BASS: WASHINGTON COUNTY LAKE - The
last two population surveys show a population structure that appears
to be changing. We collected far fewer numbers of 20 inch plus fish.
Instead, the population was dominated by fish in the 12 to 19 inch
length range. Numbers of these fish were lower in the 2003 survey.
Condition was good. These fish should continue to grow and move
into larger size classes in the future. Young of the year fish were
fairly abundant. I would rate the bass population structure as good,
with several year classes present. The larger bass may still be
present, possibly in deeper water during our survey. This lake is
highly fertile and has good woody habitat. Gizzard shad is the principal
prey item for bass in this lake. The points can hold some nice fish.
A 14 inch minimum length limit/3 fish per day creel applies.
