SAM PARR LAKE STATUS REPORT SUMMARY

CHANNEL CATFISH: The channel catfish fishery in this 180-acre lake in Jasper County has declined over the last three years, but still remains above average. Data from the Fall 2004 population survey show a decline in abundance, however, fish in the 1 - 3 lb range remain plentiful and there is a fair population of larger fish as well. Growth rates for channel catfish in this lake remain good and fish up to ten pounds are common. Fishing this past year was very good with many anglers catching limits. Angling prospects for the coming year look just as promising. The best places to fish include the upper ends of the two main arms of the lake and in the backs of coves.
