Mermet Lake has three boat ramps, a ten horsepower outboard motor limit (although larger motors are now allowed if operated at no wake speed) and a closed fishing period from two weeks before the waterfowl season until the seasons end to reduce disturbance of resting ducks and geese. Mermet Lake has a 10 horsepower outboard motor limit, but larger motors have been allowed to operate at no wake speed. Mermet is closed to fishing from two weeks before waterfowl season to the seasons end to reduce disturbance of resting ducks and geese. The recent appearance of curlyleaf pondweed in Mermet has caused boat navigation problems in approximately two thirds of the lake from late spring to mid summer. A five-year integrated management plan to reduce the impact of this plant on angler access was initiated during 2001.
