Cedar Lake is
an artificial impoundment constructed for the purpose of water supply
for the City of Carbondale. Approximately 50% of the shoreline is
owned by the U.S. Forest Service. The Lake receives moderate to
heavy fishing pressure and is popular with Missouri anglers from
Cape Girardeau and the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
Cedar Lake is
1750 acres in size and has a maximum depth of 40 feet with an average
depth of 14 feet. Storage of the lake is 25,000 acre-feet of water.
The shoreline length is 30 miles. Water clarity can range from six
inches to 20 feet.
